Coaches Stipend Fund
The Coaches Stipend Fund is used to pay coaching stipends at Piedmont High School. All students participating in PHS athletics are asked to make a CSF donation, however a donation is not required to participate and is purely voluntary. Families may donate more or less than the suggested amount. Donations are held in a designated account at PHS and are only used to pay coaching stipends. Donations are pooled and used to pay coaches for all sports and are not accepted for specific teams or sports.
The CSF Donation amount is set annually and is currently $385 per athlete per sport played.
For more information on the Stipend Fund read answers to FAQs below

PUSD adopts a “schedule” of coaches’ stipends. Stipends vary by length of season and an individual coaches’ experience. For instance, a coach for a team that has an eleven-week season is paid less (i.e. receives a smaller stipend) than a coach for a team that has a thirteen-week season. Likewise, a coach with 5 years of experience receives a higher stipend than a coach with 1 year of experience. The CSF is used to pay the various stipends. CSF funds are used ONLY to pay coaches’ stipends.

For the school year 2022-2023 it is $224,000. This is the total amount of coaches’ stipends for the school year 2022-2023.

The District is obligated to make up any shortfall from general District funds. But for the school year 2022-2023, Boosters has pledged a $75,000 “backstop” for the CSF. Boosters will pay (up to $75,000) for any shortfall in the CSF.

The surplus is rolled over to the next year. CSF funds can only be used for coaches’ stipends and may not be used for any other purpose.
